Before Float…

Just a quick note with a few tips on what to do (and avoid) before your float session.

What to Do Before Float Therapy:

Shower beforehand – remove oils, lotions, makeup, and deodorant to keep the water clean.

Use the toilet – it's best to go before your session to fully relax.

Eat lightly – have a small meal or snack 1–2 hours before to avoid hunger or discomfort.

Stay hydrated – drink water, but not too much right before.

Remove contact lenses – they can cause irritation if salt water gets in your eyes.

Bring a towel – some centres provide them, but it’s always good to check.

Arrive early – give yourself time to settle in and not feel rushed.

Ask questions – especially if it’s your first time; we’re happy to help you feel comfortable.

🚫 What Not to Do Before Float Therapy:

  • Don’t shave or wax on the same day – the saltwater can sting sensitive skin.

  • Don’t drink caffeine or alcohol – both can affect your ability to relax or concentrate.

  • Don’t come if you’ve had recent hair dye/tanning – colour may bleed into the water (and it’s not fun for your skin either).

  • Avoid heavy meals – floating on a full stomach can feel uncomfortable.

  • Don’t wear perfume, body spray or essential oils – these can affect water quality and your sensory experience.

  • Don’t float with large open wounds or infections – both for your comfort and hygiene.
